Board meets in Lake Tansi in March

A regularly scheduled meeting of the Lake Tansi Village Property Owners' Association, Inc. board of directors was held on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at the Thunderbird Activity Center. Board members attending were Chairman Mike Ferry, President Duke Coyne, Vice President Ken Qualls, Jim Hellem, Ed Yoder, Rich Holton, Chuck Stephens and Dick LeClair. Also attending were David Sutton, general manager; Larry Williams, treasurer; and Tricia Steinmann, secretary. Approximately 50 property owners were in attendance.

Sutton stated that some of the residents of the section Shawnee 8A, that includes Cravens Dr., Seminole Loop, Deer Run and Ridley Dr., were working on revising the covenants governing their section. There were 86 responses to the information that was sent to all property owners in Shawnee 8A. A minimum of three-fourths positive response is required by law to change the covenants for this section. Because there was insufficient response, the proposal did not pass.

He also reported that a golf meeting was held to finalize the details for league play in the spring. The existing golf carts will be replaced with carts from Club Car. EZ-Go does not have a cart that will meet the demands placed on the carts for more than three years that can be delivered prior to July 1, 2008. They do have a new cart that will suit the needs of the golf course, but it has been so popular that sales have exceeded production and none are available.

Sutton also mentioned that the Lake Tansi Golf Course won the People's Choice Award for 2008 as "The Best Golf Course in Cumberland County." This award was determined by the votes that came in from readers of the Crossville Chronicle.

The marina is now open on weekends and will open full time April 1. The lakes committee met in February, and the egg addling is scheduled to take place between March and April. Addling is a wildlife intervention technique used to manage the goose overpopulation.

The maintenance staff has already begun to get ready for spring. The team is working to fix leaking return lines on the outdoor pool. Work to resurface the bottom of both the large pool and wading pool has been completed. Also, several minor projects are in progress at the marina to repair some of the problems. The funds for these minor projects is being provided by the increased boat-slip fees.

The Security Jeep Cherokee that was replaced in February has been sold. It sold "as-is" for $2,700 to someone outside of Tansi. The funds have been put back into the general fund to offset some of the cost of the replacement vehicle.

There are two new members of the financial advisory committee. Pauline Sherrer and Bill Corbin have joined the team. Debra Robison is the co-chair of this committee and is in training to be chairman after Rich Holton's term is up.
