The Lake Tansi Community Association held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 at 6 p.m. at the Thunderbird Recreation Center. In charge of the decorations were Arlene Mercadante, Donna and Gus Gocella, Terry Matthews and Dick and June LeClair.
Gus Gocella gave the invocation. Following the invocation, Jerry Davenport led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Community Association members with birthdays and/or anniversaries in January were recognized and also first-time members and visitors were welcomed. Table numbers were then called and everyone shared in the bountiful and delicious food provided by our members.
Kim Driver, Rob Brown and Martin Smith of Home State Seniors provided our program for the evening. Both Rob and Martin are franchise owners, Martin in Crossville and Rob in Cookeville. Paul and Lori Hogan of Omaha, NE, founded Home Instead, Inc. and began serving seniors in 1994. It was Paul Hogan’s own family experience caring for his grandmother for 12 years that made him realize the need for non-medical home care and elder companionship services to help seniors live independently at home. By 1998 Home Instead Senior Care had grown to 99 offices and today there are about 700 franchises all over the world.
Meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, shopping, and a variety of errands are just a few of the many services that are provided. The object of Home Instead Senior Care is to improve the quality of life for our loved ones. All caregivers are thoroughly screened, insured and bonded. If you are interested in becoming a care giver, you can call Martin at (931) 707-5595 or Rob at (931) 526-1127. You can also get more information at www.homeinstead.com.
Our program for Feb. 19 will be Keri Rockwell of the Brown School Volunteer Program and on March 18, we will hear Bob Washburn of the Wolf River Valley Growers. Topic will be “Spring Gardening.”
If you have friends or you know of people who are new to Lake Tansi, or longtimers for that matter, don’t forget to invite them to participate with us in the Community Association. We meet on the third Tuesday of each month. To join this wonderful Lake Tansi organization, contact Gary Rabuck at 788-1748 after 6 p.m. Membership dues are only $6 per person or $12 per couple per year. Please plan on joining us.
