Little Willie the catfish

After 15 or 20 minutes of reeling and some netting help from a neighbor, this 36-inch, 19-pound Blue Cat was taken from Lake Tansi. The catfish was landed using a 5 ½ light rod, 6 pound test line and A #8 cricket hook.....more>>

  • Deadlines for candidates for board, advisory committees
    If you wish to be a candidate for a three-year term on the Lake Tansi Village Property Owners’ Association, Inc. Board of Directors, you are asked to submit a petition signed by 50 members, in good standing, and be delivered to the secretary of the POA by Wednesday, August 12 by 4:30 p.m.

  • A POA message about buoy placement and weed-control chemical
    All marker buoys for Lake Tansi have been purchased or repaired. They are back in the lake according to the water depth in the proper location. We ask all people on the lake not to move the buoys and to report any that are out of the designated area.

  • Lake Tansi Panfish Club members enjoy tournament
    The Panfish Club held Tournament #4 on May 19. Fish bite was still slow, but the water temperature is getting warmer, so it should get better. Taking first place was Denver Hogston and Denny Wunder, with 4 lb. 5 oz. Second place was Ron Brown and Ron Pulley with 3 lb. 2 oz. Third place was Stan Smith and Jeff Smith with 1 lb. 13 oz.

  • Exchange Club's chicken barbecue set for July 4
    The Lake Tansi Exchange Club will have their 22nd annual chicken barbecue sale on Saturday, July 4, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Thunderbird parking lot in Lake Tansi.

  • Brown Elementary School wraps up year in style
    The last days of school at Frank P. Brown Elementary were filled with activity. Many classes and groups enjoyed field trips to various locations. Some of these excursions included: the Sustainability Fair, Tennessee Aquarium, Cumberland Caverns, the Palace Theatre, and Lake Tansi beach and recreation areas.

  • Tansi residents bring home the gold
    Winners in the 2009 Senior Games, held in the Upper Cumberland, included, from left, Joe Mercadante (1 medal), Arlene Mercadante (6 medals), Quineth Roberts (10 medals), John Sohmer (1 medal), and Eddie Liskovec (12 medals).

  • Camacci wins gold at Senior Olympic Games
    Mike Camacci won a first-place gold medal in the singles games of table tennis, second-place silver in the doubles table tennis matches, and second-place silver in the mixed doubles table tennis matches in his age group. He will also compete in horseshoe pitching and basketball throw later this month.

  • Pan Fish Club update
    The pan fish tournaments started out a bit rough with canceling the first tournament due to a snow storm. We rescheduled for the next week and that was not much better with the rain and cold.

  • Tansi Tarts enjoy a lively luau
    The Red Hat Tansi Tarts wore their fun luau outfits to the Luau held at the home of Jane and Ric Saeger On Lake Tansi. They were ably assisted by Rhonda and Abe DeGraaf, Charlotte and Gary Springer, and Judy and Virgil Hankins.

  • POA announces guest pass policy
    The POA has modified its policy on issuing guest passes. The two types of guest passes are "Immediate Family" and "Outside Guest." The policy is as follows and is effective beginning Friday, May 22 (Memorial Day weekend).

  • Lake Tansi Ladies Club meets
    The Lake Tansi Ladies Club had their final meeting for the 2008-2009 season. The ladies had a meeting where all the husbands were invited. It was a real pleasure to see so many men at our meeting.

  • Lake Tansi Community Association to hear of Homestead history
    The Lake Tansi Village Community Association will meet Tuesday, June 16, at 6 p.m. at the Thunderbird. Emma Jean Vaden will present a program on the history of the Homestead area.

  • Excessive rain continues, course remains soggy
    The first 10 days of May have brought over 7½ inches rain to the Lake Tansi golf course. The course is extremely wet. Many folks say the course is as wet as they have ever seen for this time of year.

  • Patton & Hyder, PLLC cuts the ribbon
    A ribbon cutting was held on March 27 at the new law office of Patton & Hyder, PLLC. Both Earl Patton and Susan Hyder are Tansi residents.

  • Brown Elementary School update
    With the school year coming to a close on June 5, Brown Elementary School is proudly looking back over the school year. Statewide TCAP testing was completed at the end of April. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed their time, especially the proctors.

  • Red Hat Tansi Tarts sponsor a 'Spring Fling'
    Pictured are the Red Hat Tansi Tarts, who arranged a dinner dance party at the new FG Convention Center, invited other Red Hatters, hired a band, decorated the hall with umbrellas, bubble machine, and spring flowers.

  • Salvation Army Golf Tournament and Fish Fry set for Aug. 12
    The second annual Salvation Army Golf Tournament and Fish Fry will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Lake Tansi Golf Course. The tournament format will be a four-person scramble, and will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will also be a putting contest before the tournament starts. Those interested should come early.

  • Exchange Club finishes annual benefit golf tournament
    The Lake Tansi Exchange Club annual benefit golf tournament was held on Saturday, May 2, at the Lake Tansi Golf Course. The turnout was excellent considering the weather, with 23 teams in attendance. The food was catered by American Restaurant.

  • Lake Tansi recreation update
    We have had a very exciting couple of months at the Thunderbird. It started in March with our beef stroganoff dinner on Saturday, March 3. We had a great turnout and want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting your recreation department.

  • Pelicans come, pelicans go
    On the cold, cloudy, and rainy day of April 12, a group of white pelicans were spotted west of the RV Park beach. They were floating in a circular group. There were about 30 of them and they were accompanied by five common loons.

  • Golf course news and notes for April 2009
    Winter-like weather has delayed the healing process on the aerified greens. Cool temps, heavy frost, and April snow have drastically hindered new growth on the greens. Soil temperature is a very important factor when it comes to healing aerified greens in the spring. The sand that the greens are grown on is quick to freeze and slow to thaw.

  • Lakes committee issues an update for spring
    The Lake Tansi Property Owners’ Association Maintenance will not be spraying the lakes for weeks in 2009. For spraying around private docks, the blue lescocide will be sold at the Lake Tansi Marina.

  • Tansi sewer project gets underway
    Tansi Waste Management, Inc. had been created as a 501c3 corporation. This corporation is totally separate from the Lake Tansi POA. Once certain legal and permit questions are settled and financing obtained, the new corporation will begin to offer sewer services to the Tansi residents in a carefully planned series of steps.

  • Tansi Exchange Club donates $1,800 to Imagination Library
    “We are fortunate to have the Lake Tansi Exchange Club playing a leadership role in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. Cumberland County has one of the most effective Imagination Library program in the state of Tennessee, ” voiced County Mayor Brock Hill to members of Lake Tansi Exchange Club Friday, March 20, during their regular monthly meeting.

  • PHOTO GALLERY: 2009 Welcome Home Parade
    The weather didn't dampen the 2009 Welcome Home Parade, which was held Saturday with events continuing through Sunday. Vietnam veterans and many others participated in the annual event dedicated to veterans. More photos will be in Friday's Chronicle.

  • Lake Tansi Hospice Auxiliary presents check
    Lake Tansi Hospice Auxiliary wishes to thank all who helped make our “Hearts that Care” card party a success, which contributed to the treasury. Many attended to play cards and games and some people who could not attend still donated to the cause.

  • The "signs" of spring are narrowed
    Each year as spring approaches Lake Tansi, things begin to grow and proliferate. Daffodils begin to show themselves. Tulips come through the ground and trees bud. Ah yes, spring is a wonderful time of the year.

  • Senior Golf League sign-up time
    There will be a Lake Tansi Senior Golf League meeting and sign-up on Wednesday, March 25, 8 a.m., in the Thunderbird Activity Center.
