Man sought in domestic dispute shoots himself

A Pleasant Hill area man has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head after being involved in a domestic incident and the resulting subject of a search by deputies called to investigate the disturbance.

Harlan Thomas Hall, 32, 45 Clearview Lane, died of a single shot to the head from a shotgun, according to K-9 Officer Kevin Phillips' report. No one else was injured in the shooting and the incident has been ruled a suicide by investigators.

Deputies were called to Clearview Lane Monday shortly after 10:30 p.m. in response to a verbal domestic dispute that was escalating. When Phillips arrived in the area he was informed that the male involved in the argument had left on foot and was armed with a knife. As Phillips walked in the area attempting to make contact with the suspect, a male ran to him near the intersection of Main St. and Hwy. 70 W in Pleasant Hill. The man told officers he heard a single gunshot that came from the area of an apartment complex.

Officers then converged on that area and when Phillips walked to the rear of the apartment complex, he found Hall lying on his back with a shotgun lying between his legs.

Cumberland County Emergency Services was called to the scene but the victim was pronounced dead. Sgt. Rick Lanzilotta, Deputy Richard Tinch, Lt. Tom Howard, Investigator David Gibson and County Coroner Ben Gibson all responded to the scene as well.

Several persons involved in the incident were escorted to the Justice Center where they provided investigators statements as to what had taken place.
