Pikeville artist Thomas Britt will perform a live painting demonstration Wednesday, July 30, at 2 p.m. in the Cumberland Meeting Room of the Art Circle Library.
'An Evening with Steven Whitson' to benefit Kids on the Rise
Kids on the Rise will be hosting a fund-raising concert Aug. 2 at the Palace Theatre. The local non-profit agency will present An Evening with Steven Whitson. Sharing the bill will be Crossville native Travis Rice.
Second Wine on the Plateau set Oct. 11
The Fairfield Glade Rotary Club is proud to present the second annual Wine on the Plateau event to be held on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 11 at the four-way stop area. Last year's event was very successful with approximately 600 attendees, eight wine distributors with more than 60 varieties of fine wine, craft beers and 12 restaurants. Actually paying attention to the pastor’s sermon on Sunday, I was riveted by one sentence within his sermon entitled, “Freedom Isn’t Free.” The pastor applied the last sentence of a John Adams quote, the entirety of which follows:

John Conlee is a lot like the songs of which he sings. He lives a domestic life with his wife Gale and three children, Rebecca, Jessica and Johnny. Panel recommends no election for board
At the June meeting of the Fairfield Glade Community Club, Dave Bouque, chairman of the Election Committee, announced only two candidate applications had been received for the two open director at-large positions. The committee verified and vetted the candidates and found them to be in good standing. The candidates' bios are available on page 2A.
Wine petitions due Aug. 21
Cumberland County residents wanting to see wine stocked on the shelves of their favorite retail food store have until Aug. 21 to submit petitions for a referendum on the matter to be placed on the Nov. 4 election ballot.
Knights of Columbus MR Foundation grant benefits Hilltoppers, Inc
A long, beneficial partnership of more than 30 years marks the relationship between the Knights of Columbus and Hilltoppers, Inc. The local Knights of Council 8152 have partnered with Hilltoppers, Inc. on numerous occasions to enrich the lives of adults with intellectual disabilities. It’s part of their mission statement. When Hilltoppers, Inc. has a need, the Knights respond.

I pushed the small cart down the wide aisle of the grocery store. I scanned through the coupons I had decided to use. "Crackers ... hmm," a new kind that I could get 50 cents off on a box. As I searched for that certain brand of crackers, I was taken back by a strange sensation.
