Spring meeting of the FFG Neighborhood Watch Coalition to focus on preparedness
The 2014 Spring Meeting of the Fairfield Glade Neighborhood Watch Coalition (FGNWC) will be held at the Community and Conference Center on Thursday, March 13 starting at 9 a.m. and lasting approximately two hours. All Cumberland County residents are invited and encouraged to attend.

Playhouse stars present dinner theater murder mystery at Forte’s restaurant
The Cumberland County Playhouse volunteers will present “A Murder at the TonyLou Awards” at Forte's on the Square Restaurant. This dinner/mystery theater presentation is an audience participation murder mystery written by Tony Schwartz and Marylou Ambrose. Special guest star appearances by CCP professionals Jason Ross, Michael Ruff, Daniel Black, Caitlin Schaub and Deanna Etchison will be on hand to entertain you.

Bereaved families that have experienced the death of a child now have an opportunity to meet with others on a regular basis who have endured similar tragedies.

Staying active in the winter
Frigid temperatures have kept most people indoors and inactive this winter, but some residents of Fairfield Glade have found ways to exercise in spite of the cold weather. Pickleball is one of the latest crazes to hit the Glade and it’s a great way to break a sweat. Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. And best of all, it’s played inside. It’s offered at both the Community & Conference Center and the Tennis Center.
Wattenbarger captures first place in state Hoop Shoot final
Heath Wattenbarger, 8, son of Russell and Leslie Wattenbarger and second grader at North Cumberland Elementary School, won first place in the State Elk's Hoop Shoot Contest in Franklin on Feb. 1.
Can you write a six-word story?
Have you heard of "six word stories"? The legend goes that, one day, while sitting at a table of fellow writers, Ernest Hemmingway bet the other writers that he could write a compelling story in six words. Each writer bet Hemmingway $10 that it couldn't be done. Hemmingway wrote on a napkin, "For sale: baby shoes. Never worn." and collected the bet. Whether the legend is true or not, it spurned a whole new pastime for millions of amateurs.
