Elks to host veterans picnic on Aug. 17

The Elks Lodge will be hosting its annual veterans picnic Aug. 17 from noon until 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to help them celebrate.

Dennis and Sheree Long will be providing music for this great event. This affair will be taking place at Robin Hood Park just inside Fairfield Glade on Peavine Rd., about seven miles from I-40. Watch for the signs.

They will be serving all-you-can-eat hot dogs and hamburgers with all the fix-ins plus sides of potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw and homemade desserts for $9 per person. To quench your thrust, they will have beer, soda and water for an additional charge.

Veterans from Murfreesboro will be arriving with a full escort about 1 p.m. Please help give these veterans due respect for the sacrifices they made for this wonderful country. The Elks bring encouragement, cheer and comfort to veterans throughout the United States in fulfillment of their solemn pledge: “So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.”
