Fairfield Glade Council of Churches sets Thanksgiving Service

Submitted

CROSSVILLE — The entire community is invited to the annual ecumenical Thanksgiving Service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Fairfield Glade Community Church, 521 Snead Drive. Pastors from the Fairfield Glade Council of Churches’ participating congregations will participate. These include:  Rev. Bill Bates from Westminster Presbyterian Church USA, Rev. Charles Traylor from Fairfield Glade Community Church, Rev. Will Wells from Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, Rev. Jenny Barnes from Christ Lutheran Church ELCA, and Rev. Leonard Markham from Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church. The evening’s sermon will be delivered by Father John Dowling from St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church. Sacred music will be provided by the host congregation.

This traditional Thanksgiving Service, as well as the annual Easter Sunrise Service, provides an opportunity for community residents to join in interfaith worship twice a year. Throughout the remainder of the year, the Fairfield Glade Council of Churches continues several cooperative ventures that benefit their members and the community as a whole.  These include the FFG Neighborhood Watch, the Peavine Care Center (Food Pantry), the FFG Residential Services, the Good Samaritan Health Facilities, Lifetime Learning, and the Cumberland County Counseling Center. The united efforts of this interfaith organization reach far beyond the confines of each individual church entity.

The two beneficiaries of this evening’s offering will include the Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency, as well as the Bread of Life Rescue Mission. Checks should be made out to: Fairfield Glade Council of Churches.
