Bring out-of-date drugs to Oct. 23 collection

CROSSVILLE — Wendy Reed, Casey Cox and Dee Dee Kuenzer are collecting out-of-date prescriptions, unneeded over-the-counter medications, vitamins and other pharmaceuticals.

Cumberland County’s Drug Take Back will be Oct. 23 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Fairfield Glade Wellness Complex, 130 Stonehenge Dr. Signage will show the way to the drop-off site. 

The 1 to 4 p.m. collection will be at the Crossville Wellness Complex, 130 Woodmere Mall, Crossville. Drop-off will be curbside in front of the building.

Donated drugs must go directly to hands of a licensed law enforcement officer.  Contributions cannot be dropped off at the Wellness Complexes.

Reed and Kuenzer, both registered nurses, are managers of the Wellness Complexes. Cox is Chief Investigator of the Cumberland County Sheriff Department, who started the effort to keep unneeded drugs out of residential homes, away from young people, and out of the county waterways.

The federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will dispose of drugs collected.
