The Fairfield Glade Hospice Auxiliary will once again usher in the holiday season with its 25th annual Holiday Ball on Sunday, Dec. 1, at Druid Hills Country Club. A spectacular evening has been planned for all attendees. The gala event will begin at 5:30 p.m. as ladies and gentlemen arrive in their holiday attire to enjoy cocktail time with friends, visit the silent and live auction tables, and mingle amid the beautiful holiday decorations.
A delightful dinner planned by Chef Jerry will be served as guests enjoy the music of the Bill Sleeter Trio of Nashville. A fast-paced live auction will follow the dinner, and the evening will continue with dancing and great music until 10 p.m. The donation for this festive occasion is $60 per person ($25 may be considered a charitable donation for income tax purposes), with the proceeds benefiting Hospice of Cumberland County, the only non-profit Hospice organization in the area.
For reservations, forward your check ($60 per person made payable to Fairfield Glade Hospice Auxiliary). If you wish to be seated with specific people, list names, addresses and telephone numbers on a separate sheet. Maximum is eight people per table, and payment for all must be enclosed in the same envelope. Seating is limited to 200 guests, and the reservation deadline is Oct. 29. Historically, reservations for the Holiday Ball are usually filled within two weeks, so be sure to make your plans today. Please include a telephone number; once your check is received, you will receive a call confirming your reservation.
Guests will enjoy a delicious gourmet dinner, beginning with fresh Arcadian Lettuce topped with Tri-Colored Julienne Roasted Beets, Candied Walnuts and Crumbled Goat Cheese in a Fig Infused Balsamic Vinaigrette, followed by a grilled Bistro Filet Topped with a Lobster Cake in a Merlot Reduction Beurre Rouge, accompanied by Boursin Mashed Potatoes, French Green Beans and Honey Glazed Carrots Julienne, and finished off with dinner rolls. For dessert, Belgian Chocolate Crepe with Berries served over pools of Crème Fresh and Raspberry Coulis and finished with Chocolate Flower Garnish will round out this fabulous menu.
The list of terrific auction items continues to grow for all those who enjoy waving a bid number in the live auction or choose to secure a prize by outwitting others with the highest written bid in the silent auction. A specialty table will feature a few items that will be awarded to the lucky persons who purchase the winning prize tickets. They are most grateful for the continued generosity of retailers, artisans, and friends of Hospice of Cumberland County who participate so willingly in this annual fundraiser.
As in the past, auction items will include resort/hotel packages, orchestra tickets, dinner and gift certificates, services, gift baskets and artwork. Since the auxiliary does not have the ability to process credit cards, payment for all items must be made by check or cash only, so please remember to bring your checkbooks.
