Fairfield Glade Racquet Club is hosting a variety of programs for kids of all ages to introduce them to the sport you can play for a lifetime — tennis.
There are four weeks of junior camps for ages 5-17 years old. These camps run Monday-Wednesday and Friday. Ages 5-10 are from 10-11 a.m. and cost $45 and ages 11-17 are from 12:30-2 p.m. and cost is $60.
Camp weeks are June 17-21, June 24-28, July 8-12 and July 15-19.
In addition to the camps, FGRC will also be starting Junior Team Tennis (JTT) beginning June 20 and will run for five weeks. JTT is a program that gets kids playing matches right away and puts players on a team so they can play with their friends or make new friends. JTT is open to players of all levels ages 11-17 years old. JTT will run two days a week Thursday from 10 a.m.-noon and Saturdays from 1-3 p.m. Each JTT class will have one hour of instruction followed by an hour of match play. There is a minimum of six players needed to run JTT. Cost for the five weeks is $100. All JTT players will receive a T-shirt.
The last program is Quickstart Tennis also beginning June 20 and will run for five weeks. This is a program that introduces tennis to players ages 10 and under. Quickstart puts players on an appropriate court for their age and also utilizes low compression balls and smaller racquets. This is to help keep the ball in the player’s strike zone, thus allowing more opportunities to hit the ball properly. In addition to learning tennis, players will develop motor skills that will help them in all sports. Quickstart will run Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 p.m. and Saturdays 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. There is a minimum of four players needed to hold Quickstart. Cost is $50. All Quickstart participants will receive a T-shirt.
