Death of FFG woman under investigation

CROSSVILLE — The body of a Fairfield Glade employee and resident found in her home Wednesday night remains under investigation in what authorities are calling a suspicious death.

The victim was identified by Cumberland County Sheriff's Investigator Casey Cox as Kimberly Batty, 52, of 154 Donvenshire Dr., located just off St. George Dr. Her body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Nashville for an autopsy to confirm cause and manner of death.

Cumberland County Sheriff Butch Burgess, who was at the scene, confirmed that a 911 call was received about 6:10 p.m., reporting a woman at the Donvenshire Dr. address not breathing. An ambulance and Fairfield Glade Public Safety officers responded to the scene.

After analyzing the scene, FFG Public Safety asked that investigators be dispatched to the scene and TBI Special Agent Dan Friel and Sheriff's Investigators Jerry Jackson and Cox responded. At 3 p.m. Thursday when the Chronicle went to press, investigators were still out working on the case.

Cox said the victim was originally from Kansas, and does have children, although none of her children live in Tennessee. The family has been notified of the death.

"Right now, we are treating it like a homicide, but it is too early in the investigation to make any other comment at this time," Cox said.

FFG Public Safety Chief Randy Hoover advised Glade residents in an email that Batty was an employee of the CCC Pool.

"I am working with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department and TBI on this investigation," Hoover wrote. "It is currently being treated as a possible homicide."

Updates on this breaking news will be published on the Chronicle web site and information becomes available.
