CROSSVILLE — Election signs being torn down

Dear Editor,

It appears Chicago style politics is alive and well this election season here in Cumberland County. A couple of weeks back a series of large, Burma-Shave style signs supporting Governor Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan started appearing on the major roadways in and around Crossville.

The signs, which presented a variety of light-hearted political messages critical of the current administration are being funded by the same local Conservative organizations that underwrote the cost of similar signage during the 2010 mid-term election.

Unlike two years ago, however, this year’s signs are being torn down almost as quickly as they go up, prompting one to wonder if the other party’s supporters truly believe in the Constitution’s First Amendment, that being the right of freedom of expression.

Questions about closing dining room

Dear Editor:

The announcement in the Oct. 4 issue of the Glade Sun concerning the closing of the main dining room at Fairfield Glade during November and December brings forth some questions:

*Are January and February better months for dining out than November and December?

*What will the chefs be doing? Within the last year another chef was hired apparently to embellish the dining experience!

*Does discontinuation of services send customers and their holiday guests to other venues where they may find dining more pleasing and continue dining there in the future?

*Have the chefs realized new competition and the format?  And given some thought to changes?

I’ll continue “to study about it”!!!
