By William Taylor
This past weekend the Racquet Sports Committee and William Taylor, the Racquet Sports Manager, hosted the largest number of players to enter our newly combined classic tournament. This was the first year for Pickleball and combined with the USTA sanctioned tennis tournament there were 84 participants.
Several local players earned medals or trophies because of their outstanding level of play. The Pickleball tournament hosted players from all around the state of Tennessee and the Tennis tournament had players from several surrounding states.
The tournaments, offering intense competition, also hosted a catered dinner, a wine and cheese social and food for players each day for breakfast and lunch. Each player also received a welcome bag with discounts from various local businesses and a tee shirt. Our primary sponsors were Dave Kirk Automotive, Edward Jones Investments, Plateau Orthopedics, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Big Boys Barbecue, Crossville Heating and Cooling, and Cumberland Eye Care
