FOL donates to CC Archives and Family Heritage Center

CROSSVILLE — Friends of the Library made a donation of $500 to the Cumberland County Archives and Family Heritage Center on March 6. The money will be used toward the purchase of some much needed reference books for the Genealogy Department. Genealogy information is just one aspect of the services provided by the Archives.

Tennessee requires counties to preserve and protect their historical records. The Cumberland County Archives and Family Heritage Center was created to meet this need. Joyce Rorabaugh, part-time county archivist, and the volunteer staff at the Archives are woking very hard to sort, preserve, and index county records. The Archives are part of the Art Circle Library, and receive their funding from the county as part of the library's budget.

Genealogy seminars from basic to advanced are also offered at the Archives. Watch the paper for dates.
