CROSSVILLE — Answering an appeal made by member Suzy Eagen, members of the Fantastic Quilt Guild approved donation of 39 comfort quilts to the victims of Hurricane Sandy. A small group of members gathered the quilts, packed them tightly into space-saver bags, and shipped them to the northeast in late December 2012. All donors and packers will be honored for their generosity at the membership meeting of the Guild on Jan. 18, 2013, from 9-11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church.

The January meeting will focus on introducing chairs of the multiple committees which organize and run the many activities planned for 2013. The business portion of the meeting will include discussion and passage of the proposed budget. Vice-President Judi Gerth will collect annual $15 dues from renewing current and new members. Show and Tell and the Fat Quarter drawing will conclude the meeting. The fat quarter color for the month of January is “Red, pink, or white.”

The purpose of the Fantastic Quilt Guild is to further the art of quilting through education, sharing, service, preservation, and social camaraderie. Guests are always welcomed. For more information on the Fantastic Quilt Guild, or the monthly meetings, please contact Guild President Sharon O’Shea at 484-3165.
