FFG Lions add new member

CROSSVILLE — The Fairfield Glade Lions members got all dressed up and invited their spouses to the annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 17. Lion member Jay Fox and his lovely singing partner, Joennen Kettler, entertained with some good old Merry Christmas songs. However, one important order of business needed to be taken care of before the festivities started.

King Lion Dan Richardson called on Membership Chairman Jerry McBride to step forward and induct new member Warren Bane into the organization. Lion Jerry asked the audience several questions about Lionism before offering the acceptance pledge to Mr. Bane. Sponsoring Lion member Ron Karns was given the honor of presenting the pin.

Warren Bane was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He received a B.S. Degree in Business Administration before going on to gain his MBA. Bane spent his business life as a realtor. He and his wife Karen retired to Fairfield Glade in July 2012 from Fredericksburg, VA. Warren enjoys golf and traveling as favorite things to do with a hobby as a coin collector. He was asked why he joined the Lions organization. His answer was “To become an active member in the community.”

The Fairfield Glade Lions Club has been an active organization in our community since March 1976. Four to five thousand Cumberland County School children have been tested for sight and hearing each year for over 30 years. Used eyeglasses and hearing aids have been collected and needy adults have received free eye exams and glasses. A new program has been added to test the vision of young children aged 1-6. The Tennessee Lions Eye Center in Nashville cooperated with the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital to develop a process to test children this age for eight different possible eye problems.

Many other opportunities are available in the Lions Club to make our community a better place to live. Please call Lion Jerry McBride at 707-0438 to learn more about how you can contribute a portion of your time to gain some personal satisfaction in helping the community.
