Fishing Lakes Pomeroy and Malvern

Submitted

CROSSVILLE — The FFG Bass Club held it's Tournament 4 on Lakes Pomeroy and Malvern with 30 fishermen participating. Again, the fishing was better on Lake Pomeroy with more than twice as many bass being caught as on Malvern. Windy conditions provided a true angling challenge to most of those who fished, but temperatures stayed fairly comfortable. Water temperatures neared 60 degrees by the final day of fishing. Lures used were primarily plastics in the form of lizards, craws and worms. A total of 57 bass were caught and released during this tournament. One of the fish caught had been tagged earlier this year. The information from the tag was again recorded and the habits of this fish is continuing to be tracked. The tournament results are as follows:

First Place – J.R. Hope and Wayne Golden (new member) having four bass with a total weight of 8.14 pounds.

Second Place – Ed Wolters and John Slinkard with five bass weighing 7.40 pounds.

Third Place – James Nash (new member) and Jim McCulloch with five bass weighing 6.62 pounds.

Fourth Place – George Godsey and Nick Petrafesa with five bass with a weight to 6.34 pounds.

Fifth Place – Bob Suttles and guest Robert Suttles with five bass weighing 6.23 pounds.

Big Bass Honors went to J.R. Hope with his 3.3 pound 18 inch bass.

Overall Club standings after four tournaments are as follows:

Third Place – Jim Hajny

Fourth Place – Ed Wolters
