Avalon bus trip planned for Jan. 2

CROSSVILLE — The annual Avalon Center's Lady Vols Bus Trip for the 2013-'14 basketball season is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 2, which is the beginning of the quest for another SEC Championship. The Lady Vols will host LSU, which is coached by former Lady Vol player and assistant coach Nikki Caldwell. Some added fun and excitement will be the retiring of Candace Parker's jersey prior to tip off. Game time is currently scheduled for 7 p.m. (eastern) at Thompson Boling Arena.

As in the past, motor coaches have been reserved for this event. So it's advised that you get your name and money in early to guarantee a seat. The price for this trip is $70 per person, which includes transportation via Motor Coach from Crossville to Knoxville and back, game ticket and a hot buffet meal at the Bearden Banquet Hall on Kingston Pike.

All seating for this game will be in the lower level of the arena. Buses will leave from the Cumberland Worship Center parking lot, which is just behind the Dairy Queen Travel Plaza on Interstate Dr. just off Genesis Rd. Departure time will be promptly at 2 p.m. (central) for the Lady Vols game. Buses will travel directly to Bearden Banquet Hall for dinner.

This trip will benefit Avalon Center for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. Everyone will be called or emailed a couple of days prior to game day and told to which bus they have been assigned. All checks are to be made to Avalon Center and mailed to 3888 Peavine Rd., Crossville, TN 38571 or dropped off at either the Pioneer Realty office on Main St. or Peavine Rd.

If you wish to sit by someone in particular, please include that information with your check along with your phone number and email address so you may be contacted prior to the games. Don't forget to brush up on Lady Vols trivia for a fun quiz and the chance to win a door prize. For more information, contact Luanne Brennan at (931) 261-3561 or 484-9100.
