CROSSVILLE — Captain Bob Bennett has been named 2013 Firefighter of the Year.

This award exemplifies professionalism and a dedication to service in the community, and was very well received when it was announced at the Fire Department Banquet.

Bennett joined the department in 2002. He took Tennessee's basic 64 hour “Firefighter 1” classes and training, and after completing and passing all the basic requirements, he then signed up to go through the State Fire Academy and complete the live burn training course of 22 hours. Bennett was with the second group of Fairfield Glade firefighters to go through the State Fire Academy live burn training.

Bennett has worked hard and is a dedicated fire fighter. In 2004, he became a lieutenant and a few years later in 2006 he became a captain.

He continues to train and work hard so he can better serve the community. The Fairfield Glade Fire Department appreciates Bob Bennett for his continuing service and dedication.
