The Cumberland County school year is coming to a close. SMHS Student Counselor Lisa Dillard selected Trenton Campbell as a “Student of the Month” for the FFG Lions Club. The Lions assigned the month of May in his honor. This will complete the Lions Program for this school year.
Trenton is an outstanding senior. His grades have been in the top 25 percent of the class since starting high school and he will graduate from SMHS with honors and distinction. His ACT score is also in the 95th percentile. Campbell is a member of the BETA Club, advanced choir and a player on the tennis team.
Trenton has very ambitious plans for the future. He has selected Tennessee Tech University as the college of his choice. He will major in engineering, focusing in mechatronics, with a goal of working with robotics as a career. His hobbies include tennis, playing with his younger brother and paintball.
The Fairfield Glade Lions Club will hold a special dinner meeting in early May to honor all 10 “Students of the Month” and their parents. Each family will be introduced and an engraved plaque will be given to each student with his/her name and special month displayed.
Each student is eligible to apply for a part of the $6,000 scholarship fund established by the Lions Club. A group of Lions along with the student counselors from each school will determine the winners and amount based on financial needs. The winners will be announced at their high school graduation ceremony.
This wraps up another school year for the FFG Lions Club “Student of the Month” Program. The program has been in effect for over 20 years with great results for many fine students. The program will continue for the 2013-'14 school year and beyond. “It is a wonderful event for the Lions to honor so many outstanding students,” commented Lion Chairman Bob Cover.
