Cumberland Shrine welcomes new officers

CROSSVILLE — On Tuesday Feb. 18, the Cumberland Shrine Club installed officers for 2014. President Fred Summers announced that the club had pledged $25,000 over a five year period to assist in building a new wing for the use of Shriner’s Hospital in Lexington, KY. This is in addition to maintaining a van for the transportation of children from Cumberland County to the hospitals in Lexington, KY and Cincinnati, OH. The monies pledged will come from the fund raising activities of the club.

The 2014 Shriner’s candy sales at Wal-Mart will be conducted on Fridays and Saturdays in March. Their Vidalia Onion Sales will be in May. Orders are now being taken for that event. The Shriner’s Golf Tournament will be in August and the Motorcycle Run for Kids is scheduled for September.

The folks in the Cumberland Area have been very generous in supporting the Shriner’s by participating in their fund raising activities. We thank them for that needed support.
