Due to the positive response to the Silver Sneakers program in Fairfield Glade, they had to change the location and time. Please disregard all past announcements. Effective Monday, Feb. 10, the correct location is the Discovery Center (old location of Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church), 5160 Peavine Rd., across from Food City at the corner of Lakeview Road. The new times are:
1 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays — Silver Sneakers Circuit is designed for fit and active adults who desire added cardiovascular training using low impact standing moves with a chair for support. The chair is also used for upper body strength exercises, head to toe stretching and for complete relaxation at the end of the class.
1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays — Silver Sneakers Classic Group is for fit and active adults who can participate either standing or using a chair. The classic class is chair-based and especially helpful for those who are new to exercise, or just haven’t worked out in a while. The instructor will help you modify the movements according to your personal fitness level.
Both classes provide safe, effective movements using Silver Sneakers approved equipment: hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and plastic balls.
Silver Sneakers is designed for Medicare eligible participants. The exercise classes provide safe, multi-level, equipment-based, total-body conditioning. The Fairfield Glade instructor is Clintina Simms, a certified fitness specialist with advanced training in group exercise for seniors.
All classes start promptly at 1 p.m. Please arrive early to complete the paperwork. Be sure to bring a Silver Sneakers card or Healthways member number. If not a Silver Sneakers member, you are welcome to participate and pay a $2 fee.
This program is brought to Fairfield Glade by Fair Park Senior Center. If you have any questions or need more information, call Simms at 456-8890. Be fit and have fun with Silver Sneakers exercise.
