Christmas on the Mountain kicks off annual toy drive

CROSSVILLE — Christmas time is coming and one Cumberland County nonprofit agency helps those children who are in need to have a special Christmas.

Christmas on the Mountain recently kicked off its annual toy drive and is currently collecting toys for children.
The group is collecting new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages. The toys may be dropped off in the big red barrels found at any of the locations around the Crossville area from now through Dec. 13.

Julie Vaden, coordinator for Christmas on the Mountain, says that each year has gotten bigger and better and the group intends to collect toys for more than 500 children.

Christmas on the Mountain is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization and donations are tax deductible. It collects for children who are in need and might otherwise have no Christmas presents to open.

Drop-off locations this year for placing new toys in the big red barrels are at Advance Termite and Pest Control; Cumberland County Mayor Kenneth Carey's office in the courthouse; First Bank; Comfort Keepers; Shadden Tire (both locations); First National Bank of Tennessee in Fairfield Glade; Peg Broadcasting; Dollar General Market; Dollar General stores on Lantana Rd., Hwy. 127 by Sears, Homestead, Pleasant Hill and Hwy. 127 N.; Big Boy's BBQ; Save-a-Lot; Verizon Wireless; Wyndham Resorts in the lobby for guest check-in; Rocky Top Realty; R&B Cafe near Fairfield Glade; The Palace Theatre; and Express Services off Genesis Rd.

Once the toys are collected, the group will host a wrapping party Dec. 14. Several volunteer helpers will also be needed for the wrapping party.

Cash donations can also be made. For more information about helping for this year's Christmas on the Mountain toy drive, call Julie Vaden at 707-8886.
