28th annual Member-Member Golf Tournament — Sign up now to play!

CROSSVILLE — The web site is open and waiting for your application! Sign-up will close Sunday, July 18, or when the 184 team limit is achieved. Remember, your position is not secured until your payment is received. As in the past, tournament entry can be made in two forms: online and paper based. Online entry can be accomplished by logging onto, highlighting the entry form icon and then following the instructions on the page. Paper based can be accomplished using entry forms available at Druid Hills. Remember these entries are not official until received at the P.O. Box. Please be sure to enter your Fairfield Glade Member number, located on your picture ID card, along with your 7-digit GHIN number on the form as well. The entry fee for this year's tournament is $105 and includes: two days of golf with cart, breakfast and lunch both days, gift bag, prize money, a golf shirt or a dozen golf balls and your participation in the pre-tournament reception.

Competition will begin on the Brae and Crag Courses at Heatherhurst Golf Club August 11-12. This year's tournament will have three flights: Arnold Palmer Flight (Yellow Tees men only), Nancy Lopez Flight (Red Tees women only) and Jack Nicklaus Flight (White Tees men only). Please note that player may not use either the blue nor the green tees. The Lopez and Nicklaus Flights will be competing for the ladies and men's tournament championship.

Glade Director of Golf Operations Steve Kraft and his group of PGA Club Professionals want to remind everyone interested in playing in the event that you will be required to submit a valid and certifiable handicap index from an authorized USGA golf club or golf association and also be a member in good standing of the Fairfield Glade Community Club. In addition, handicap indexes submitted this year, as in the past years, along with posted scoring history will be reviewed by the men and women of the Member-Member committee. These requirements go a long way to assuring a level playing field for all players competing.     Roane State Community College faculty take pride in developing well educated students. To that end, Fran Kinnunen, Assistant Professor of Speech, and Ann Berry, Director the Cumberland County Learning Center, developed and sponsored a program of public speaking for the students to perform some of their best original works from both their speech and English composition classes. The works presented included poetry, short stories, and speeches, and the students who shared their creations included Roane State students of all ages.

    Local residents are invited to attend the April 29 meeting of the Fairfield Glade Rotary Club where Arthur Pais will talk about his childhood experience as a Lithuanian Jew who was sent to the Dachau Concentration Camp in Germany during World War II.

    The Fairfield Glade Bass Club recently held its third tournament of the year on Lake Dartmoor. Thirty-six fishermen participated and a total of 159 bass were caught and released.

This entertaining Art Guild fundraiser will be Saturday, May 10, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., at Fairfield Glade's Conference Center on Stonehenge Dr.

    The Cumberland Mountain Storytelling Guild (CMSG) located in Crossville and the Cleveland Tennessee Storytelling Guild will come together to share stories Sunday, April 27, at the 127 South Senior Center. Stories will begin promptly at 2 p.m., and admission is free.
