Once again, Brian Bacon and a group of local stars are helping to benefit Fairfield Glade Resident Services (FGRS) by presenting a benefit concert on April 18 at the Community and Conference Center in Fairfield Glade. Last year’s concert was sold out as Bacon’s merry band of pirates presented “The Pirates of Penzance.” This year, Bacon has chosen Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway musical revue entitled “Putting it Together” for your enjoyment. “Putting It Together" showcases the many songs and talents of Stephen Sondheim. Opening in England in 1992, and first preformed in America in 1993, “Putting It Together” deals with infidelity and divorce but ends in reconciliation before the night is over. On Broadway, you may remember that this revue starred the return of Julia Andrews to the New York stage after more than 30 years. In the California production, Carol Burnett played the lead role that ran for more than 120 performances.
Now, “Putting It Together” comes to Fairfield Glade with an all star cast of Terri Utsey, Dennis Donald, along with Brian and Amanda Bacon. Utsey has become a favorite in Middle Tennessee for her beautiful voice and charming presence on stage. We all are aware of the talent of Donald, who has entertained us for years at many venues and in many roles. Bacon has become the go to musical director and vocalist of Fairfield Glade. Being the director of the Festival Chorale, the Cumberland County Band, and director of music at St. Francis of Assisi Church, his popularity is forever growing. Who could ever forget the beautiful voice of Amanda Bacon that we were treated to in last year’s production of the “Pirates of Penzance.” “Putting It Together will surely be a production to remember.
