United Fund’s Door-to-Door Campaign off to a good start

CROSSVILLE — Co-Chairpersons Judy Brooks and Sara Drake announce the United Fund’s Fairfield Glade Door-to-Door Campaign is off to a good start.  More than $7,000 has been turned in toward the Fairfield Glade goal of $50,000 that is part of the United Fund’s overall 2014 goal of $365,000.

The United Fund is celebrating their 47th anniversary of helping people right here in our local community. This year the local agencies and programs supported by your generous donations are as follows:

Helping families with basic needs: Bread of Life, Crab Orchard Care Center, Hilltoppers, The Arc, Creative Compassion, Cumberland Adult Reading Council, Good Samaritans, Second Harvest Kids at Risk Program, Crossville Housing Authority Council, St. Alphonsus Community Services, The Place of Refuge Outreach.

Providing services to our Seniors: Azalea Gardens, LBJ & C Foster Grandparents, Fair Park Senior Citizens, Senior Living Foundation/Wyndridge, Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency Home Delivered Meals, Oakmont Gardens.

Programs that provide a safer and healthier community: Avalon Center, Rescue Squad and Junior Squad, Cardiac Pulmonary Rehab, Christian Counseling Center, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Rural Health Clinic of the Cumberlands, Exchange Club/Stephen Center, Visually Impaired Support Group, Tennessee Poison Center.

Programs helping our children and youth achieve their potential: Boy Scouts, Imagination Library, 4-C’s Foundation Scholarships, House of Hope, 4-H, Teens Against Drug Center, Youth Achievement Foundation, Kids on the Rise, Crossville/Cumberland County Youth Center, LBJ & C Head Start.

Cooperating agencies that receive no funding are Peavine Care Center, Habitat for Humanity and Young Marines.
