The 2014 Spring Meeting of the Fairfield Glade Neighborhood Watch Coalition (FGNWC) will be held at the Community and Conference Center on Thursday, March 13 starting at 9 a.m. and lasting approximately two hours. All Cumberland County residents are invited and encouraged to attend.
The key topic for the spring meeting is preparedness – one of the four guiding principles of FGNWC. The agenda is set to provide critical and necessary knowledge to assist residents in handling an emergency, and specific issues in and around the home.
The following is a brief summary of the presenters and their topics:
• Paul A. Perry, ACI, is an ICC certified residential building inspector. Perry is owner of Certified Inspections, PC and currently serves as president of the East Tennessee chapter of ASHI. Perry will speak about multiple safety concerns found in the home including code issues, radon, black mold and more. He will also discuss home owner preparedness in the event of an emergency.
• Frank Miller, owner of Cumberland Home Improvements and president of the Home Builders Association of Cumberland County. Miller will talk to the increasing popularity of storm shelters and other methods of home protection and safety.
• Bobby Smith, Fairfield Glade Fire Department and former Cincinnati fire fighter for more than 30 years. Smith will discuss and answer questions pertaining to fire and life safety in the home, starting out with types and placement of smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.
