Kinseekers meet July 10
Because of the 4th of July holiday, the monthly Kinseekers meeting is set for July 10 at 1p.m. at the Fairfield Glade Community Church, 521 Snead Dr. Everyone is who is interested in genealogy is invited to to our monthly meetings. This month, Gene Stone will present “Online State Resources for Genealogy – Beyond Ancestory” and “Family Search, Using US Gen Web, Cindi’s List for State Records Online.” Our meetings are open to everyone who is interested in genealogy (the why’s, the how to’s or the where to go’s). Learn about freezing, drying foods July 10
UT Extension Agents Kelli Bottoms and Jan Williams will teach the principals for freezing and drying foods properly. The class will be July 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the UT Gardens in Crossville, 320 Experiment Station Rd. There will be a $5 fee for this class. Elks Fish Fry July 11
We’ve added something new to our already famous fish fry – Cod. For $10 per person, you can enjoy “All-you-can-eat” fish and sides of coleslaw, French fries or baked potato and dessert. We have discontinued the half-baked chicken. Children 8 years and younger half price, children under 3 years eat free. Dinner is served from 4 – 7 p.m.
The Elks Lodge is at 1145 Genesis Rd. which is about a half mile south of I-40. Lodge hours are 12 – 9 p.m. Monday – Saturday. Please keep in mind we have limited parking, so if you can car pool that would be greatly appreciated.
Free ‘Heart Art’ workshop
Artist Eileen Wallach will be at the Fair Park Senior Center, 1433 Livingston Rd., on July 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. for a Heart on Art workshop. Participants will create spontaneous abstract art that will reflect their personal stories and help them to heal emotionally, expressing the hurts of their lives, without using words. Participants do not need to be an artist to benefit from this therapeutic artistic expression. This class is free, but supplies and seating are limited so please get signed up today by calling Tina Taylor at 484-7416.
