FGCC welcomes Intentional Interim Minister


CROSSVILLE — Fairfield Glade Community Church is pleased to announce the calling of Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Morgan to serve as our intentional interim minister. Pastor Morgan will begin leading worship services at Community Church on Jan. 6, 2013.

Dr. Morgan holds a B.A. from Elon University, a M.Div. from Duke Divinity School, and a D.Min. from Drew University. He has been trained in interim ministry through the Center for Congregational Health in Winston-Salem, NC. He served United Church of Christ (U.C.C.) congregations from 1970 to 1996 in the cities of Burlington, NC; Brooklyn, NY; and Atlanta, GA. For 15 years (1991-2006), Pastor Morgan worked at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, where he directed Continuing and Distance Education and taught courses in Church Administration, Missiology and Ministerial Leadership. Recently, Pastor Morgan served as intentional interim minister at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Decatur, GA; as intentional interim minister at Brookmeade Congregational Church U.C.C. in Nashville, TN; and as minister of pastoral care and counseling at First Congregational U.C.C. in Atlanta, GA. Pastor Morgan has served the larger church as a member of several national boards, the UCC Executive Council and as moderator of the UCC’s 27th General Synod. He is married to Mae Trammell Morgan, M.D., and is father of four wonderful adult children.
