Hospice of Cumberland County the real winner in the 22nd Annual Benefit Golf Tournament

Submitted

CROSSVILLE — The 22nd Annual Hospice Benefit Golf Tournament was played Wednesday, May 8 at Lake Tansi Golf Course. The golfers gathered at the Lake Tansi pavilion for a delicious lunch from Big Boy’s Barbeque. The full field of 33 teams took to the course with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The tournament was divided into three flights based on team scores at the end of play. Winning the First Flight, with a 19-under-par 53, was the team of Kris Burk, Pat Burk, Kevin Burk and Tom Solberg. Taking second place were Jim Petty, Tom Looney, Joanna Gibbs and Donnie Dixon. The Second Flight was won with a scorecard playoff with 65s by Danny Wyatt, Brad Wyatt, Jason Sitton and Sonya Rimmer and the team of Donald Werner, Edward Trachy, Allen Lambert and Paul Streets. Another scorecard playoff determined the winners of the Third Flight each scoring 71s for the team of Don Koch, Rollie Wicker, Mike Wilkiel, Mark White and the team of Keith Burgess, James Stewart, Scotty Robinson and Eddie Eller.

The hole-in-one contests on all the par threes were sponsored by Dr. Mark Hendrixson, “Exceptional Care, Genuine Concern” offering a $5,000 cash prize on hole three plus other great prizes for each of the other par threes. Unfortunately, no one was able to score a hole-in-one during our event. We are thankful to Dr. Hendrixson for this high level of support!

The City of Crossville sponsored a closest-to-the-pin contest on hole three with gift certificates to the Lake Tansi pro shop which were won by Mr. Findley and Grace Ferguson. Closest-to-the-pin contests were won by Bill Walker and Lorraine Northrup on hole six, Don Johnson and Mary Listenberger on hole 12, Pat Burk and Joanna Gibbs on hole 15. The most accurate drive winners were Paul Streets and Karen Gammond. Residents of Lake Tansi participated once again as hole spotters for these contests and we appreciate their time and efforts.
