Food drive was a huge success

CROSSVILLE — The 21st annual “Stamp Out Hunger” Post Office food drive is now complete. The total amount collected nationally over 21 years is 1.2 billion pounds.

Locally the donations collected by the volunteers of the Crossville Post Office and food pantries is 29,734 pounds. This is an increase of 4,014 pounds from 2012 (25,720) which was an increase of 6,856 pounds over 2011 (18,864). Eight local food pantries are better prepared to serve their communities.

A big “Thank you” to our Postmaster, Lori Cook, and the USPS for allowing and promoting the food drive, to the local media for getting the word out, and especially to everyone in Cumberland County who donated a small bag of non-perishables that grew into a 15-ton mountain.
