CROSSVILLE — Dec. 16 was selected for the annual Christmas Dinner by the Fairfield Glade Lions Club. More than 100 attended to enjoy an evening of good food and Christmas music from Lion member Jay Fox and his singing partner Jonene Kettler, as well as a special appearance from Jay David.                        .

A couple business matters had to be handled including the induction of two new members. Betty and Larry McNamara were on hand with sponsor Ron Karns to be sworn into the FFG Lions Club by president Marty Smith.

The McNamara’s have been coming to the Glade area for 10 years. They moved here full-time two years ago from Oak Ridge, TN. Betty received her B.S. degree from Northern Illinois University. She worked as director of the Rock Island Arsenal Child Development Center in Rock Island, Ill. as well as director of the Early Intervention Emory Center in Oak Ridge, TN. Larry attended college for two years and was employed in environmental management. They have been married for 38 years and have two boys and one girl in their family. Betty is a member of the Cumberland County ARC and Larry is a member of the Masons in Oak Ridge and a member of the DAV. Lion Ron Karns was their membership sponsor.

The FFG Lions Club has a lot to offer their members. Lions Club International is the largest service organization in the world with over 1.3 million members. Their motto is We Serve and the local FFG Lions Club certainly carry that motto out. If you would like to offer some of your personal time to help serve both youth and adults in our community call Membership Chairman Dan Richardson at 510-5830 or President Marty Smith at 484-6784 for project information.

The Lions Club meets for a dinner meeting the third Monday night of each month at 6 p.m. It is a buffet served dinner at the Legions Restaurant in the Druid Hills Country Club. You are a guest of the club for your first dinner. Please call Dan or Marty to make a reservation.
