CROSSVILLE — United Fund asking for donations

Make a difference in the lives of people in the community by giving to the United Fund of Cumberland County. The United Fund has provided funding locally to non-profits since 1966. Please send a tax deductible donation to 348 Taylor St., Ste. 101, Crossville, TN 38555.

American Legion meeting changed

Because of the holidays, American Legion Post 163 will not meet Jan. 2. The meeting will be Jan. 9. Dinner will be at 6 p.m., with the meeting to follow. Post 163 is at 1446 South Main St. (Hwy. 127 S).

Free Medicare help on Jan. 6

SHIP representatives from the Upper Cumberland Area Agency on Aging and Disability will be at the Fairfield Glade Resident Services building, 4929 Peavine Rd. (near Food City), Jan. 6 and 13 from 9 a.m. to noon to help counsel on any Medicare questions, abuse or concerns. Please contact SHIP at 1-877-801-0044 for an appointment or questions. SHIP/SMP covers all 14 Upper Cumberland counties. 

Piecemakers to meet Jan. 8

The Cumberland County Piecemakers Quilt Guild will have its first meeting of 2014 on Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. at the 127 South Senior Center on Hwy. 127 in Crossville. All quilters are welcome. For more information, contact President Marvell Stevens at 787-8788.

Korean War vets meeting canceled

Cmdr. Bob Johnston has canceled the January business meeting due to the Fairfield Glade Community and Conference being closed. Being of great importance, Cmdr. Johnston has scheduled a meeting of the scholarship committee at his home for the same time of the usual meeting: Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 1 p.m.

Corvette Club to meet Jan. 9

The Plateau Corvette Club meeting for the month of January has been changed because of the New Year holiday. The meeting will be Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m. at the Crossville Outlet Mall meeting room. Join them and meet new people as events are planned that all Corvette owners can enjoy. Volunteer Coin Club to meet Jan. 14

The Volunteer Coin Club of Crossville will hold its regular meeting Jan. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the 127 South Senior Center, 1460 Main Street (Hwy. 127 S). Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month. Visitors and guests are welcome. Contact Mike Puhl (456-0397) or Franc Conner (337-1247) for information.

Spayghetti fundraiser coming soon

It's time again for the ever-popular Wags and Whiskers Spayghetti fundraising event at Genesis Italian Grille Restaurant on Interstate Dr. in Crossville. Tickets are good for lunch or dinner anytime in the month of February and include Genesis' spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread and a drink. Tickets are $10, with the proceeds going to help provide low-cost spay/neuter of dogs and cats in the community. Tickets are available at the Bed and Biscuit Kennel off Peavine Rd., Happy Hound Realty in Fairfield Glade and the Duplicate store on the four-lane across from Crossville Tile and Flooring (at Chuckles Dr).
