CROSSVILLE — Amenities survey results to be announced
On Nov. 29 at 9 a.m. there is going to be a meeting in regards to the survey and presentation from Chambers USA on Amenities Master Plan Survey results. The survey only represents approximately 1,600 residents out of approximately 7,000 residents, why?
Do you, as residents, want to have input into what is going to affect our maintenance fees? Are you going to leave the decision making up to our board, based on this survey? The board will be suggesting projects based on the answers of these 1,600 people. Will you feel that these investments will be worthwhile? Also, what are the reasons that made you select Fairfield as your residence? Did you think it was basically a senior community, or do you want it to become a family community?
Chambers USA summed it up after their presentation with a question: “Do you want this community to be senior or family? You need to make this decision as a community to know how to go forth.”
There will be a presentation of a 10-year Master Plan and the 2013 Capital and Operating Budget Presentation. What do you think your new maintenance fee increase is going to be? After all these presentations from companies and the amount of money we have spent to hear all this information, how much money are you willing to spend?
As usual, the meeting is being held at a time when people will be gone for either Thanksgiving or leaving for Florida. The board states that two thirds of the residents should be here, so remember the date, Nov. 29 at 9 a.m., and attend! Stand up and take an interest, this is your community!
Community Club supports fire department

Thanks for your email and for supporting our volunteer fire department. You are correct in stating that our volunteer fire department is very important to this community.
Our volunteer firefighters believe it is very important that the community, including businesses and residences along Peavine Road, help support them. That is why they wanted to solicit the community directly for funds.
The club does support our fire department financially. For example, we own, maintain and insure their firehouse. We also insure all their trucks and equipment, as well as provide their gasoline, supplies and uniforms. Our club also paid all the expenses associated with their mailing campaign for soliciting funds and has also pledged $30,000 toward the purchase of their fire truck.
The fire department is a separate organization from our club. We do not have a direct say in their organization. However, we do work with them in helping with their finances and ascertaining how we can mutually benefit each other whenever possible. Now that they have completed their strategic plan, we will be meeting with them to determine how we can assist each other in the future.
