Students advance in Hoop Shoot

CROSSVILLE — The Cumberland County Hoop Shoot Finals were held at Crab Orchard Elementary School on Saturday, Dec. 7.

There were 27 girls and boys, ages  8–13 who qualified for the finals. In the contest, each shooter shot 25 free throws, with the top girl and boy in each age level advancing to the district in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. on Saturday, Dec. 14.

The students who advanced to the District were 9-year-old Abby Weaver, daughter of Lisa Weaver;  8-year-old Heath Wattenbarger, son of Leslie and Russell Wattenbarger; 11-year-old Kara Davis, daughter of Kelly Tabor and Dwayne Davis; 11-year-old Hunter Wattenbarger, son of Leslie and Russell

Wattenbarger; 13-year-old Gracie Dishman, daughter of Nancy and Bryon Dishman; and 13 year old Jordon Barr, son of Hattie Barr.

The winners of the District, which are the West, Central and East Elks Districts, will advance to the state contest in Franklin, Tenn. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014.

Hopefully we will have all six contestants advance.
