FFG Men's 18-Hole League taking sign-ups for 2014

CROSSVILLE — Already had enough of winter? Think spring and golf. Sign-ups have begun for the Fairfield Glade Men's 18-Hole Golf League. League play begins on the first Wednesday in May and concludes on the last Wednesday in September with all five courses in the rotation. Stop wasting time trying to find a foursome or acceptable tee time. The league has over 100 players and play begins each week with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start, enabling players to rehash the day's glories over a beverage with fellow competitors in the clubhouse or for the energetic, tackle that honey-dew list in the afternoon.

New players are welcomed and encouraged to sign up! All players are assigned to teams but weekly play is randomly paired so that new players quickly get acquainted with others in the league. Most weeks are stroke play but five match play competitions occur during the season. Season-long team champs are recognized for both stroke and match play, while prize money also goes to weekly individual and paired competition.

The 18-Hole League is separated into “A” and “B” Divisions. The A Division plays exclusively from the white tees using locally modified USGA rules and players must have a GHIN handicap index of 20 or less. The B Division allows players to improve their lie and play from the gold tees (or white). The B Division players can have a GHIN index up to 36.

Players are required to subscribe to the local GHIN system by signing up at the Druid Hills Pro Shop, pay the annual fee and post five 18 hole scores on the computers available at each of our golf courses or over the internet. The staff at each course will gladly assist you in posting scores or answering any questions concerning the GHIN system.

To join us, simply complete the application and mail it to our League Treasurer along with a check for $70 which covers prize money for the entire season, the kick-off breakfast in April and the awards breakfast in October. Questions can be directed to our league Vice-Presidents: A Div--Dick Hampton (707-1434),  B Div--John Smith (707-8036), Treasurer--Jerry Houston (456-8873), or league President--John Pfeiffenberger (707-5511). We hope you’ll join us and sign up soon.
