Now that spring is here (we hope), we can start thinking about vacations and books to read this summer, as well as gardening books to help us in the yard. The best place to fill your reading needs is the book sale to be held by the Friends of the Art Circle Public Library. The sale will be held at the library in the Cumberland Meeting Room on Friday, April 19 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Hard cover books will be priced at 50 cents and paperbacks at 25 cents. Some special editions and best sellers will be priced slightly higher. On Saturday, books will be sold for $1 a bag. The items for sale include: children’s books, novels, mysteries, paperbacks, CDs, VHS, non-fiction, bargain books, sets, best sellers, first editions and parent resource books for homeschoolers. You are sure to find something you want and help the library at the same time! Come early, as books go fast in the morning. We will also hold a bling sale on Saturday, May 11.
Except for a speakers fee for our annual luncheon, the Friends organization uses all money it collects to benefit the library. Every time you buy anything at our book sale or at our store you are helping the library acquire new volumes. If you join the Friends, your dues go straight to the library. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m. and are open to the public. We always have refreshments and an interesting program that starts at 10 a.m. The next meeting, on May 2, will feature Will Rabert, of Pleasant Hill, doing one of his impersonations of a historical figure. Please join us.
