Fairfield Glade artists showcase their talent

Artists in the Fairfield Glade area open their studios to visitors Sunday, July 20. The tour is scheduled for 2-6 p.m. The event is sponsored by Cumberland Artisans for Creative Expression (CACE).

Visitors begin their tour at the Hospitality Center set up at the Plateau Creative Arts Center, 451 Lakeview Drive in Fairfield Glade. Visitors can pick up maps and driving directions or hop on a shuttle bus to tour the studios.

The public is invited to visit studios where they can interact with the artisans, watch them work and have the opportunity to purchase art. There is no charge for this event.

This tour will have 11 Artisans including Ray Butkus, a master potter and Jackie Cone a sculptor. Wilma Emling is a fiber artist specializing in soft sculpture dolls. Valerie Herrmann creates original designs for quilts and wearable art.

Jean Liberty creates abstract sculpture of metal and Crab Orchard Stone. His studio and gardens display many sculptures and mobiles.

The rug hooking group By Hook or By Crook will be set up at one member’s studio. Husband and wife artists Frederick and Linda Reiss work with glass and fiber. Stained glass artist, Sarah Senft has a studio just outside the Glade on Fairview Road.

Le Voss is a painter specializing in landscapes and florals. Betty Zarnitz is a decorative painter working with flower motifs on glass, wood and metal.

The Artisans of Fairfield Glade and the surrounding invite visitors to their studios on Sunday, July 20 from 2 pm to 6 pm. Visitors need to remember to go to the Hospitality Center first.
