— As of the date I submitted this letter for publication, the Board has yet to point out any inaccuracies in the long range plan draft sent to them on May 6. I sent an email to Glenn Harper requesting that he point out the specific inaccuracies he referred to in the May Board meeting. I copied Harvey Hoffman and Regina Welch. None of the three have responded. Even though I’m no longer part of the Long Range Planning Committee, I’m still a member of this Community and deserve the courtesy of a response.
The Board had their chance to release the plan with comments and then hold a public forum to discuss the content and share any objections they may have. After all, the first word on the document is the word “draft,” which to me implies “subject to change. I’ve made a decision to release the document to anyone interested in seeing it. In the recent article regarding the Board of Directors at FG rejecting the Long Range Plan, there was a comment made that was incorrect and I would like to clarify it. It was mentioned that the LRP chairman had provided a plan to members of the LRP Committee and they approved it. In reality, there were multiple drafts submitted and rejected, however, the final draft was never formally approved by the majority of the LRP Committee. The chairman of the committee chose to send the draft to the Board of Directors without a final discussion or vote by the committee. There has been a considerable amount of confusion and controversy recently regarding this situation and I felt it was necessary to clarify that the draft submitted was not an approved long range plan. After the recent controversy, I felt it was important to inform people in order to maintain the integrity of the committee while the remaining members continue to work on a long range plan.
