Letters to the editor (published May 15, 2008)

The Cumberland County Cardiac Support Group, since it began 10 years ago, has sponsored many events and programs. It has assisted individuals and families in immediate need. It has contributed funds to heart, diabetes and cancer organizations. It helped to equip the Chest Pain Clinic at Cumberland Medical Center, and it honors special individuals by adding their names to the new Commemorative Garden at the hospital. All of this work — and more — has succeeded because of the enthusiastic community response to our mission.

We want to say a public thank you to everyone who has given time or finances in a small or grand way to help our community pay attention to “issues of the heart” and the need to live an active and healthy lifestyle.

Shortly after moving to Fairfield Glade, we felt we needed a new car. Many people told us to shop in Cookeville or Knoxville to get the better deal.

We have always done business with local merchants wherever we lived. We decided to purchase a used Buick from Dave Kirk Chevy-Buick-Pontiac here in Crossville. When we made the purchase, we noticed a small problem and the service department there tried to correct the problem upon purchase.

Like so many problems, it was a "hunt" to find what was really wrong. After owning the vehicle for five months, we again returned for service and it was apparent it was a tire problem.

Our "complete" satisfaction was taken care of and never in our experience have we had such good treatment and satisfaction, a more knowledgeable customer-oriented dealership would be hard to find. From purchasing our Buick to the handling of a problem the experience could not have been better.

Glad we did business locally. "Atta boy, Dave Kirk."
