Men's 9-Hole Golf League gearing up for season

May 08, 2008 05:21 pm

Men's 9-Hole Golf League orientation meeting was held at the Community Center, Monday, April 28, at 10:30 a.m. We had the best attendance ever, with 64 regulars and 42 subs in attendance. President E.J. Bueche led the meeting off with a welcome. Allan Schroeder had the opening prayer followed by FG Golf Director Steve Kraft.
Kraft covered some general points of interest, one of which was that April 22 was the first day carts were allowed on Stonehenge Golf Course.
Since Treasurer Gary Sherman was absent, Vice President Don Warner handled the treasurer's report. Bueche covered the "Yellow Book," with all of this year's pertinent information.
Logan Wernz (handicaps) handed out the pairing sheets and reviewed this information. President Bueche had a question and answer period and then adjourned the meeting.
Secretary Dave Dougherty handled the sign-ins for the regulars and subs and passed out the Yellow Books and the Preferred Rate Card Chits when people arrived.
Wernz also congratulated Bernie Green (81) for his hole-in-one on Druid #8, which he witnessed. That hole is also where Allan Schroeder had one of his hole-in-ones several years ago.
P.S. Thought of the week – Do you ever wonder how the word "golf" was started? The answer is — all of the other four-letter words were taken.
