Recipient receives funds to pay medical expenses from Thrivent Financial

On April 10, John and Rachael Severson, of Crossville, received $1,500 from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to pay medical expenses. The total of funds raised was $7,874, which includes the $1,500 from Thrivent.

The funding was made possible through coworkers, friends and Thrivent Chapter 30438; sixty-eight volunteers and 331 hours of volunteer time using Thrivent Financial's Care Abounds in Communities program on April 10, during a spaghetti supper and bake sale. Thrivent Financial's Care Abounds in Communities program provides financial support for volunteer projects and fund raising activities benefiting individuals, families and qualified nonprofit organizations.

"Care Abounds in Communities allows Thrivent Financial members and other interested volunteers to join in service and use the financial resources of Thrivent Financial to serve people and organizations here in our local area," said William Koch, service team leader, with Cumberland County Thrivent Chapter 30438, Thrivent Financial's member volunteer group serving those in the Cumberland County area. "Thrivent chapter activities like this one connect congregations, institutions and community volunteers to make a difference in people's lives."
