2008 Couples Member/Guest Tournament May 16-17

The first event before the tournament begins is the kick-off cocktail party. Registration, door prizes, and goody bags will be taken care of at this time. For those who cannot attend the party you may register prior to the first round of golf on Friday. If you would like to enter the tournament, there are a few spots left. The success of any event requires a lot of community support. We would like to thank members of the community who are supporting this event, including Wyndham Resorts, Cumberland Eye Care, David Bell’s State Farm Insurance, Bob’s Liquor, Laura’s Liquor, Hughes Real Estate, Fountain Realty, Gwin Realty, Gerndt Insurance, Blake Construction, Hopper Excavating, Gondola Restaurant, Brown Insurance Group, Midstate Termite, Paradise Carpet, Big Boy’s Barbeque, Red’s Lounge and Restaurant, Ken Purvis Real Estate, Hot Spring Spas, Plateau Orthopedics, Wholesale Furniture of Crossville, Wholesale Supply Company, Fairfield Glade Beauty Shop, Eye Centers of Tennessee and Mary/Jerry Sorgenfrei of Happy Hound Realty. The real winner this year will be Habitat for Humanity. This is the charity being supported. Cumberland County Habitat for Humanity is a Christian ministry that works in partnership with God and people from all walks of life to build decent homes for people in need. It is their mission to combine Habitat’s efforts with other Cumberland County organizations to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness through the development of communities where families may live and grow in a decent and safe atmosphere; and to help them grow in God’s love through enhancement that home ownership brings to their quality of life.

Habitat’s home construction program began in 1998 with the first Habitat home being completed in December of that year. As of February 2008, there have been 35 homes completed, three homes rehabbed, and families approved and waiting for six more to be built this year. In addition, the Home Store, which is now in its sixth year of operation, provides the community with used and reconditioned household items at low to moderate prices.
