Scott Widener joins Hilliard Lyons

— Scott Widener, a Hilliard Lyons financial consultant, has joined Phil and Deanna Magdich in the firm's Crossville office.
He was born and raised in Kentucky and is an ex-Marine, with five years of service. He is a graduate of Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, KY (near Cincinnati). Widener is married to Tara, and together they have a son, Preston. They also have a little girl on the way.
With the addition of Widener, the office can now offer over 70 years of investment experience to the community. He was most recently with Wachovia Securities in Cincinnati.
Before working for Wachovia, Widener had been with Hilliard Lyons for a period of five years. During that time, he earned the Chartered Wealth AdvisorŪ designation and began specializing on the needs of retirees. Widener made the decision to return to Hilliard Lyons once it became known that the firm was once again becoming an employee-owned company. From 1998 until March 31 of this year, the firm had been a subsidiary of PNC Financial Services Group in Pittsburgh, PA. An independent firm has the flexibility to quickly adapt to client needs, a virtue that appealed to Widener.
He decided to move from Cincinnati to Crossville to put his experience helping retirees to good use.
"The weather is much better here, and I find the people to be nicer," he stated.
"There is so much financial information out there directed to those people that are either near retirement or have already retired," said Widener. "I'm here to help them make some sense of it all, and formulate a financial strategy that will see them through their retirement years."
Widener is looking forward to becoming active in community events and organizations.
