Saturday, May 10, is the date set for the sixth annual Wayne Benson Memorial Golf Tournament! We will have a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start at Dorchester Golf Club, and all participants should arrive no later than 7 a.m. to sign in and pay their green fees in the pro shop.
As always, the format will be a four-person scramble, primarily based on handicaps. The club professional will make up the teams, based on handicaps. However, if individuals wish to play on the same team, the pro will accommodate that preference.
Green fees, of $30 each, will include lunch and prizes. In the unlikely event of rain, entry fees will be considered a donation to Avalon Center and Bread of Life Mission.
Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. in the pavilion at Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church. If the tournament is called because of weather, lunch will begin at noon. Non-golfers are invited to join the golfers at lunch for a $10 donation.
To join this friendly competition, drop by the church office for an entry form (located on the table across from the church office window). One form must be prepared for each player and turned in to the church office. This tournament is not limited to church members, so if you like golf and a few laughs, plan on being at Dorchester for a day of fun, food, and fellowship.
Again, all net proceeds will benefit Avalon Center and Bread of Life Mission. Prior beneficiaries include the S.L. Hope Scholarship Fund, Good Samaritans (downtown Crossville), Amerasian Children’s fund, House of Hope, and Hospice of Cumberland County. We hope many golfers and wanna-be golfers will join the fun and game with us on May 10.
