Member-Guest Tournament deadline is April 30 — sign up in a hurry!

By Ron McCunn / Sun contributor

As the deadline fast approaches (April 30), the committee is quickly organizing the final touches for the event. There are more than 20 teams currently registered and there is room for 32 teams in the field. If you have not registered, please do so quickly. The most efficient way to register is online at www.sunflowergolf.com. Just click on the member guest tournament and follow the directions. This will be the first tournament of the year and a great opportunity for you and your guests to enjoy our new community center, as well as our fine golf courses.

Maintaining pace of play is the responsibility of all players. In order to make golf enjoyable for all, it is the little things we do that keep the pace flowing. For example, be ready to tee off when it is your turn. Do not sit in the cart and watch the others in your group tee off. Watch where the other player’s shots go. Wayward shots can be located if more than one person has an idea where to look. If you are the first person to hole out your ball, you should take the responsibility for returning the flag to the hole when play is complete. Wait until you reach the next tee box before you fill in the scorecard. Leaving the area of the green allows others to hit their approach shots to the green. Remember, do not put a club into your bag until you are ready to remove the next club. Many of these tips are things we already do, but we need to consistently do these simple things all of the time. If we can shorten each hole by one minute, we will shorten the round by 18 minut es.

We hope you will join us for a fun-filled event. Remember the dates are May 16-17. If you have any questions, direct them to Jeff McCoy at (931) 707-7068 or e-mail at jtjeanne@frontiernet.net. Handicapping questions can be directed to Mark Carle at (931) 456-2209.
