Glade blood donors come through big

By Pat Filsinger / Sun contributor

Fairfield Gladers — you are terrific! Donors came in throngs to donate their blood so that others might have another chance to enjoy life. The number was 143 donors who were able to give blood this time, the largest group in a very long while. There were 20 first-time donors in the group on Friday. Many thanks to each and every one of you generous folks.

Our pin collectors were really busy as well. Guy Hamilton, who has two sons in uniform, one in Korea and the other in Iraq, became a 20-gallon donor. Irene Lantry is credited with 13 gallons and Bob Jansen has an 11-gallon pin. Jerry Miller earned a 10-gallon pin, Bill Godsey was given a seven-gallon pin and Ron Horstman and Gene Frankenberg tied with six gallons each. With dedication such as these seven people have, it is not a surprise that we set new goals all the time.

Jerry Allard's name was drawn for the $25 gas card from Bernice Polizzotto.

Thanks to the medical technicians and the volunteers that help make these drives so successful. Our next blood drives will be May 2, which will be the regular collection, and May 30 for the Type-O collection. Mark your calendars today so you can plan around these two very important days. Remember, we'll be looking forward to seeing you in about six week
