Transportation vouchers now available to local senior citizens

CROSSVILLE — Fair Park, in partnership with the Upper Cumberland Development District and the Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency, is distributing transportation vouchers to seniors aged 60 and older in the city of Crossville.  These vouchers will provide free, round-trip transportation to and from the center on Mondays and Wednesdays to take part in group activities, educational programs and a healthful lunch.

Senior centers are among the most widely used services among America's older adults, serving more than one million older Americans every day. Although many seniors remain active and independent, there is a very real need to provide opportunities for those seniors who are unable to drive, need access to daily nutritious meals,  as well as encouraging fellowships among their peers and activities to keep them active and healthy. These vouchers will provide the access to these services to give them an incentive and the means to leave their homes and join in community activities.

If you or someone you know in your community could benefit from these free transportation vouchers, contact Fair Park Senior Center at 484-7416 for more information on obtaining these vouchers and a schedule of activities.
