Cumberland Mountain State Park will be hosting Christmas on the Plateau Saturday, Dec. 15. This free event will be held at the recreation lodge (next to the swimming pool) at the park. Activities are scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. as listed below. The park will also have a toy drive during this event to help children around the county have a merry Christmas. Hot chocolate, coffee, hot cider and cookies will be available for you to enjoy.
Schedule of Events
5 to 6:15 p.m. — Homemade Ornaments. Crafters will show you how to make a variety of Christmas tree ornaments. You can hang some on the park Christmas tree and take some home for your own tree.
6:15 to 6:35 p.m.— Meet McKenzie. Join the park ranger for an up close and personal encounter with McKenzie, the park’s resident barred owl.
6:35 to 7 p.m. — A Christmas Story. Park ranger Jessica House will entertain you with a Christmas story reading before Santa arrives.
7 p.m. — Santa Claus will be stopping by so that you can tell him about that last minute Christmas wish. Santa will also be glad to pose with your children so that you can take a holiday picture.
Come join the park for these holiday activities. Remember their toy collection for the county’s children. Before you leave, take a drive through the park and see the historical Civilian Conservation Corps bridge decorated with holiday lights.
