On April 26, the members of the 127 South Senior Center had another good time playing bingo and dominos. Numbers were called by John Bohrman, and the prizes were furnished by Dr. Michael S. Galloway, ophthalmologist.
Mary Bohrman, vice president, opened the meeting at 10:40 a.m., with Sharon Hilton giving the opening prayer and Leonard Hollender leading the Pledge of Allegiance.
Jan Neitzke gave her report on the following trips: The May trip to the Sutton General Store, the June trip to England, etc., the August trip to the Jack Daniels Distillery, the October trip to Dollywood and the December trip to see the Rockettes are all sold out. The July 9 trip to Day Lily Farm near Athens does have some seats available. The second trip to Mackinac Island on Sept. 22-28 has six available seats. The Nov. 26 day trip to the Cumberland County Playhouse has a few seats available. If interested in any of the above trips, contact Jan at 788-3667.
The seniors raised some money to purchase bingo gifts for the fifth Fridays of the month in 2013 by hosting a drawing for an afghan, which Colleen Isom won. An oil change by Shadden Tire Company was won by Leonard Hollender.
Nancy Fincher, the sunshine lady, gave her report on all the members who are sick and asked for prayers for them. Larry Oslund was welcomed back to the center.
Tom Fincher reminded everyone of the fundraiser that will be held June 8 at the Palace Theatre. Lynn Isham, representing Musicians for St. Jude, report that their benefit will be May 18 on Main St. by the courthouse from noon to 8 p.m. All monies will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Entertainment was a most heartwarming performance by a ministry called The Duncans from Cleveland, TN. After dinner prayer, they enjoyed a delicious chicken dish prepared by Anna Cox and her kitchen helpers, with the side dishes and desserts brought in by members.
